At press time, ACOM's "Liberty Chapter" was planning to hold its first meeting of 2005 at the Philadelphia Downtown Marriott Hotel, February 25 th at 4:30 p.m. The Theme was a post-holiday blues bash. A surprise Keynote speaker was to once again educate and motivate the Tri-state’s convention Service Professionals.

The founding members of the ACOM Liberty Chapter include professionals from the Valley Forge Convention and Visitors Bureau, Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, Loew's Hotel, Pennsylvania Convention Center and the Wyndham Franklin Plaza Philadelphia.

The Peachtree Chapter in Georgia is currently planning its first event for late February or early March. It will be an informational and networking event for anyone interested in learning about ACOM.

It will also be an opportunity for us to learn what type of events the local community would like and what their educational needs are.

VIRGINIA CHAPTER
  • The Virginia Chapter of ACOM held its first meeting September 21, 2004 and had 41 people attending. Our speaker, Mr. Hugh Gouldthorpe, Jr., was from Owens & Minor, the nation’s leading distributors of national name brand medical/ surgical supplies, located in Richmond, VA. He is vice president of quality and communications and considers himself the “head cheerleader.” He is a gifted motivational speaker, prolific writer and inspiring educator in sales, marketing, communications, leadership, customer service and total quality management. He delighted everyone with a light educational session on the service industry. The Richmond Coliseum hosted the meeting.
  • Seven Virginia members of ACOM attended the annual conference in Honolulu, HI. All enjoyed the educational sessions, new and old friendships, and the networking that the meeting provided. Everyone is looking forward to next year’s annual conference in Philadelphia!
The chapter plans on holding three meetings this year and growing its attendance.
