The CMP, or Certified Meeting Professional, program is the most widely recognized designation in the meetings industry. It symbolizes excellence in professional and academic experience. Approximately 25% of ACOM members hold the CMP designation.

The CMP program is administered by the Convention Industry Council. In order to qualify to begin the certification process, meeting professionals must meet a threshold of activity in the industry, including prior experience, continuing education, scope of responsibilities and leadership. In addition they must pass an extensive examination which is administered twice a year.

Training Programs
ACOM Hosted Training
ACOM holds an optional CMP training session at its Annual Conference in January. This is a one-day course usually held the day prior to the start of the Conference. The course focuses in part on the application process, but much of the day is spent on tactics and recommendations for exam preparation. PCMA Online Training
PCMA offers the only online prep course, which gives you the unique flexibility to study at your own pace, wherever you have an Internet connection - whether you're at home, in your office, or on the road. The CMP exam contains questions covering a variety of functions a meeting planner must perform. The Online Prep course addresses these topics through a 28-section online course. It is fully interactive. Once you register for the course and your payment has been processed, you will receive a password to access the online program. Then you are free to work on each lesson at your own pace, and you will receive immediate feedback on each of the 28-section exams. You will have up to one year from the date of registration to access and complete the course.
